COP21: Stora Enso joins "We Mean Business" coalition

The United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP21), the world's largest climate conference, has an ambitious goal: to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate actions, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C. Nearly 50 000 representatives from governments, intergovernmental organisations, UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society are expected to participate in the conference, taking place this week in Paris.
To support the efforts of COP21, Stora Enso has become a member of the "We Mean Business" coalition and signed a pledge to combat global warming by committing to a science-based emission reduction target. The "We Mean Business" coalition is made up of non-profit organisations, businesses, and investors that recognise that transitioning to a low carbon economy is the only way to secure sustainable economic growth. By joining the coalition, we claim climate leadership together with our customers and make a public commitment to a science-based CO2 reduction target.
Stora Enso has set its own targets to reduce CO2 emissions by 35% by 2025. Read more about how we combat global warming in our 2014 Global Responsibility Performance (pages 48-53).
