The Paris Climate Conference (COP21)
ended with a celebration last week after 195 countries approved and adopted the first universal climate agreement. The agreement confirms the target of keeping the global rise in temperature below 2°C and establishes that we should be aiming for 1.5°C.
In the wake of this agreement between governments, non-state actors are also showing their support. The Paris Pledge for Action
is a unique way for businesses, investors, cities, and other organisations to pledge their commitment to the goals of the agreement. By bringing together all previous commitments by these organisations, such as the We Mean Business coalition
and the Low Carbon Technology Partnerships initiative (LCTPi)
, the Paris Pledge is a high-level statement that recognises non-state leadership in climate commitments and actions.
Stora Enso is among the over 800 organisations who have signed the Paris Pledge for Action to demonstrate that the signal sent by the climate agreement has been heard. We are committed to combatting global warming and are proud to support the implementation of the Paris agreement.
